Captain's Log, Weekly Digest 39

A summary of the past week of posts to my in-character Star Trek Online Tumblr, chronicling the adventures of E.N. Morwen, a science-loving and thoughtful young woman trapped in a galaxy of warring space giants.

  • Mnemosyne: While conflict with the Heralds rages across the galaxy, Morwen is contacted by Gans: he’s located the people who hired him to transport an ecoterrorist to Risa. [Original]
  • Delta Flight: Morwen temporarily joins an elite group headed by Tom Paris to investigate what the Iconians are up to in the Calbriden System.
  • The B’Nar: When the Talarian homeworld is attacked by the Herald, the Federation and Cardassians both send fleets to help in its defense. [Original]
  • Gateway to Gre’thor: The Herald attack Qo’noS, and the 53rd must cut a path through their fleet so reinforcements can reach the planet.

As the flag officer of a fleet or tactical group, Starfleet regulations also require Morwen to provide a Fleet Status Report briefly summarizing the current status and mission of all ships under her command, every Stardate that’s a multiple of 10.
I am once again trying to get an RP-focused fleet together! Contact me in-game at Morwen@froborr if you’re interested.

  1. I notice you’ve been logging as if the Dreadnought’s attack on the preserver archives cracked the planet Death-Star style. That’s not what it looked like when I did the mission – what I saw was the attack cracked the surface for vast distances, but didn’t shatter the planet.

    • See, based on Calbriden I’ve been seeing it as it DID shatter the planet, but is doing so in a more realistic time frame then the Death Star–the pieces are flying apart at 15 or 20 km a second, barely visible on the scale of a planet in the few seconds it’s onscreen, and definitely within the ability of an orbiting starship to escape, but still above escape velocity.
ETA: I suck at mental math, so my numbers for the speed were WAY off. Corrected.
ETA 2: Also, the effect used for what the Herald dreadnought did to Lae’nas is the same as what the Undine did to that one Borgified planet in the Borg mission chain and what the planetkiller did to that one Klingon planet in the Klingon War mission chain, and the TV Undine and planetkiller definitely shattered their target planets–the former is shown exploding onscreen IIRC, and the latter is described as breaking the planet into chunks small enough to fit into its (roughly Enterprise-sized) maw.

  2. “Midnight” is released. Would you like to schedule to run it together?
“The B’Nar” is tagged original on tumblr, but not in this post.
