Pony Thought of the Day: Not a Character Collapse

The inversions of the ponies’ Elements of Harmony in “The Return of Harmony” doesn’t count as character collapse. That inversion is the result of an outside force, while in a character collapse the character does it to themselves in response to a crisis. A subtle distinction, but important, since a true character collapse provides a greater level of insight into the character.

  1. I suppose “The Best Night Ever” also doesn't count…

In other news, the Hub just released their winter upfront, with stuff that had already been leaked about the S4 release dates… but not a single mention of Equestria Girls.

  2. I'm going to be discussing “Best Night Ever” in detail Sunday after next, but the short answer is no. There are no character collapses there, except maybe a very minor one for Fluttershy. It is, however, setting up for the collapse of something much bigger.

That's really interesting about the upfront, and I'm stealing it for my Pony Thought of the Day. =P
